Physical Dependence and Detox
“I was told that if I wanted to get clean, I would have to take time off work for inpatient detox, but I couldn't afford to do so. Midtown provided everything I needed for at-home detox, making it possible for me to maintain my day-to-day routine.”
The use of alcohol and benzodiazepines can lead to the development of physical dependence on these substances. You may experience painful withdrawal symptoms when stopping alcohol and/or benzodiazepines (such as Xanax, Klonopin, or Valium).
For users of alcohol and benzodiazepines the first stage of recovery requires a controlled detoxification process. At Midtown, we understand that many patients can’t take the time away from family or work to do an inpatient detox. Our at-home detox program will allow you to continue to participate in your day-to-day life without interruption of your work and home life.
Our care team will be available for you as you get comfortable with the tools of recovery. For an at-home detox process to be successful, your condition needs to be monitored. To be successful over a long period of time, therapy and additional treatment is required. At-home detox is just the first step in recovery. It is important to remember that at-home detox is very different from doing it by yourself.
At-Home Detoxification With Midtown Health and Wellness
The process of at-home detox with Midtown Health and Wellness consists of 4 steps:
We’ll discuss whether or not at-home detox will be appropriate for you. Factors will include the extent of your current use, your physical and mental health, and whether your home life is conducive to your recovery.
We’ll help you understand your insurance coverage and the fees associated with our program.
A thorough and comprehensive interview is completed so we can get to know you as a patient. Your medical team will assess your physical and mental health, and create a personalized detox plan for you.
We will schedule your detox to begin at a time that’s most convenient for your schedule.
Our providers will ensure you get your vitals checked, blood tests, and participate in counseling or group support.
Doctors or nurses will monitor withdrawal symptoms, discomfort levels, and signs of continued recovery.
We offer individual and group therapy to help you learn about addiction and transition to a safe, healthy lifestyle.
You may continue to receive treatment on an outpatient basis, although at-home care is available.
